Harman – embedded development team

Microphone and sensor electronics development with an international team, 2019–2021

An engineer examines a small circuit board with oscilloscope probes on a lab bench, next to a car speaker grille and a test report.

Background of the cooperation

Harman develops audio systems for premium and luxury car brands, and was looking for embedded development capacity in Hungary. We worked together between 2019 and 2021: the task was the development of microphone and sensor electronics for automotive customers, including the preparation of test instructions and test reports.

Harman also relied on BlackBelt when launching its first Hungarian development team – we were the first partner they started working with in this area.

The team

We provided three embedded developers for the project, at intermediate and senior level, for hardware-related development on a T&M (time & material) basis.

The team was international: Hungarian, German and Estonian colleagues worked together on real-time programming and embedded systems.

Result

The cooperation ran from 2019 to 2021. The best thing about the project was that the client was open to the experts' ideas and strongly encouraged innovative solutions – so the BlackBelt team provided not only capacity but engineering proposals as well.

The lesson of the German–Hungarian Business Day panel discussion: the AI tools and the ideas are already there; whether adoption succeeds depends on who sets the direction and the entry points, and what the organisation consciously leaves for later.
